A Beautiful New Park is Coming to Shreveport

The construction you have no doubt seen around the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium will soon be finished, and the new Shreveport Common Park will open on November 2nd of this year.  And that isn’t all.  The opening will be followed by a six-week celebration at the park for everyone to participate in and enjoy.  Shreveport Common is a nine block area where the Shreveport Regional Arts Council is currently, and recently the old 1929 abandoned Ford building on Crockett Street was purchased to be re-imagined and refurbished through a sale involving the Shreveport Common group.  Those nine blocks mostly encompassed car dealerships and manufacturing buildings decades ago, and the area has been blighted for many years because the buildings don’t adapt well to resident housing.  This park is another step in the revitalization of the area, and we should all be happy that steps are being taken to surround the Municipal with fun places to go.
