New Snap Benefit Rule Could Affect You Or Someone You Know

The political aspect to the announcement about SNAP benefits is not really accurate, but that isn’t shocking.  Let’s just deal with the facts about the new rule and remove the politics from it.  For those who are on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits, including around 50,000 people in Louisiana alone, and meet the definition of able-bodied adults WITHOUT DEPENDENTS (That’s the important part, so it doesn’t necessarily concern children) will be expected to be employed or seeking work when the rule goes into effect on April 1,2020.  There is a statewide waiver that is in place until March 31, 2020, so no one will have any changes to their SNAP benefits over the holidays.  I hope this makes things clearer.  I know it can get confusing sometimes.
